Surely, all the ladies out there relate with hair fall and hair shedding is a part of everyday life. Surely, it clogs up your shower drain and has to vacuum your house over and over, but hair loss is totally normal. Surely, many of you are worried like me, that your hair loss is more than usual. The unfortunate truth is that summer can cause hair to fall. You lose more hair in the summer season. A study has shown that the hair fall is the maximum during the summers. Your hair insulates your head and in summer the insulation is not required, so the body lets some hair fall to keep our heads cool.

There are many reasons that the hair falls during the summer season. But, that does not mean that you should not take care of your hair thinking that summer is causing my hair fall and I would probably grow my hair back in the winters 😀 You have to take care of your scalp and hair by trying these methods to control your hair loss.

Ways to Reduce Hair Fall in Summer:

1. Warm Oil Massages.

A warm/ hot oil massage not only relieves stress and rejuvenates your senses but also helps wonders for your hair.

Coconut oil helps to reduce the protein loss in your hair. Massaging the hair with warm oil helps to stimulate the blood flow and also in the growth of new hair.


Heat some coconut oil or almond oil and slowly massage your scalp with your fingertips. Do this at least three times a week and you will notice a difference in the hair quality. Keep the oil overnight and shampoo it the next day. This will help to increase the blood flow to the hair follicles and strengthen the roots of your hair.

2. Onion juice.

Onions contain high sulfur content, which helps in treating hair loss and enhances the blood circulation to your hair, revives them, and reduce inflammation.

It also contains anti-bacterial properties that help in killing the germs and bacteria that cause scalp infection which further leads to hair fall.


There are natural onion hair oils available in the market now, or you can just make onion juice and apply it on the scalp and massage with your fingers.

3. Green tea.

Well, if you have green tea in your house and you are not drinking any, then rather put it to use for your hair 😉

Green tea revitalizes your hair follicles and also stimulates hair growth.


Add 1–2 green tea bags to boiling water and allow them to steep for 5 minutes. Once cool, apply the liquid to your hair at the end of your shower.You can just condition your hair with a green tea solution and then notice the difference. You can also use shampoo and conditioner containing green tea extracts.

4. Diet.


Diet also plays an important role when it comes to hair care.

It is important to have a proper diet that is rich in vitamins and nutrients like iron, zinc, omega-3, etc. However, it is not directly the main cause for the hair fall, it can be up to some extent. 


Include fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals to keep the body with fibers and proteins. Include more nuts and eat fresh and healthy food.

5. Hydration.


During summers, you must drink enough water and avoid dehydration. Dehydration can also cause hair to get brittle and break leading to hair fall.

We sweat a lot during the summers, hence it is important to keep yourself hydrated by drinking lot of water.


Drink lots of water throughout the day and include fruits and vegetables in your diet with high water content like cucumber, watermelons, and tomatoes, etc.

6. Aloe Vera juice.

Aloe Vera contains enzymes that promote healthy hair growth and has been used for ages because of its healing properties.

It helps to remove dead cells from your scalp that clogs your hair roots and also hydrates your scalp. It also helps in restoring the scalp’s pH balance helping to promote the growth of healthy hair.


You can apply aloe vera juice or gel on your scalp and massage into your hair. You can also have one teaspoon of aloe vera juice on an empty stomach which will help to induce healthy hair growth.

7. Deep conditioning.

During the summer, it is common that our scalp can be dirtier than usual.

It is because the glands secrete more oil during the summer, hence resulting in dirt and grime stuck in that area. It is important to maintain cleanliness and get rid of the deposition of the dirt. 


You can deep condition your hair by using a deep cleansing shampoo and conditioner to get rid of the deposited dirt on the head. You can also try various homemade hair masks to deep condition your hair.

8. Reduce hair styling.

If you love your hair and do not want your hair to fall off, you need to keep heat styling to a minimum.

Regular use of heat on your hair can lead to hair breakage and thinning. If you are using any heating tools, it is always recommended to use them to 180 degrees or below.


You can rather use natural techniques to style your hair, like braiding your hair to get curls. If using styling tools, always use a heat protecting spray or product. But, the best solution is to not use heat styling tools at all to protect your hair from damage.

9. Getting a haircut.


The last thing you want to do is get a haircut especially when you are losing a lot of hair.

However, cutting your hair can reduce hair loss to some extent.


Also cutting your hair a little short can keep your hair manageable and it will be easier to maintain in summers when you sweat a lot hence helping you to minimize hair fall.
