So, we all have been freaking out over the coronavirus/ COVID-19 pandemic and searching for things to do at home, well you are not alone. I know we are stuck at home right now or just bored at home and you are wondering what next, don’t worry. I’ve got your back to help you out listing some things to do at home when you get bored or have some free time. It is extremely necessary and important for all of us to maintain social distancing and stay indoors at your home at this time.

1. Play board games.

I am sure you have got a couple of board games in your house somewhere. And when you have all the time now, this is the time to bring them all out and have a fun time.

You can also play cards with your family or if you are alone, you can play video games on your console, PC, or your phone.

2. Put together a puzzle.


Since you now have a lot of free time in your hands and wondering what all things to do at home, you can get yourself busy by putting together a puzzle. It will take your time and also help your brain to develop more.

Solving puzzles helps improve mental speed and thought processes and also completing it gives you a great feeling of achievement. There are different types of puzzles you can get on with like Rubik’s cube, trivia puzzles or sudoku.

3. Get a workout routine.


This is the best time to sweat yourself out, pull out those gym clothes, burn those calories, and get your heart pumping.

You can find workouts online or download an app on your phone and get started. Exercising will also help you with anxiety. You can also take up yoga and meditation.

4. Read a book.


I am sure there are many books in your house in your bookshelf or cupboard which you have never read till now or didn’t even have the time to.

5. Listen to music, audiobooks, or podcasts.


If you are not interested in reading an actual book, you can listen to audiobooks. You can even listen to music or podcasts, whip up a playlist, and get going.

There are many apps where you can get audio books, for example, Google playbooks, Audible, Kobo, etc. There also podcast apps like Spotify, Radio public, etc.

6. Clean your closet.


Well, this the perfect time to organize your closet.

You could try out all your clothes and separate the ones you do not need and donate them later when you get the chance. This helps you to organize your closet as well as help others.

7. Try cooking or new recipes.


This could be your best time to bring out your inner chef and whack out some experimental recipes or try cooking for the first time.

You can find recipes online or watch some videos on Youtube and get going. Since you have a lot of time in your hands you can also try your hand at baking.  

8. Pamper yourself.


There is never a proper timing to pamper yourself, you can do it anytime but since you have the extra time, you can take extra care of your skin and body also helping us in this kind of situation. 

Create an in-home spa experience for yourself, you definitely need it during these times. Paint your nails, light up your favorite candle, do a face mask or sheet masks. Just, let yourself relax.

9. Watch Movies/ TV- series.


Well, you can spend hours and hours watching Netflix, you can also now watch all the highest rated movies and series or Oscar-winning movies.

So, whip out some popcorn and chips and start your movie marathon.

10. Try your hand at painting/ drawing.


You can try your hand at painting, you don’t have to be an artist or expert to do this. It is a great way to get out your creativity and thoughts on paper or canvas.

If you don’t have colors or any of the equipment’s to do so, you can also download coloring apps on your phone which also helps your mind relax. I personally love painting and drawing, it helps me to be calm and relaxed and also passes your time.

11. Create a scrapbook /make a journal.


Get crafty and bring those Pinterest worthy ideas come to life. Time will fly by as you put down your thoughts in a journal noting down your ideas for future or things you want to do etc.

You can create a scrapbook or a photo book, take ideas from Pinterest and Google, and let your creativity flow.

12. Go through old photos/ videos.


Get those old photo albums out and have a memory flashback to old times with your family or siblings.

Watch and cherish those favorite memories from old photos or videos from your phone. Since you have a lot of time, you can also organize your photo gallery in your phone and delete those unwanted selfies..:P

13. Video call your friends and family.


Some of you may be living away from your family and friends during this quarantine period and you might be missing not being able to meet them personally, I completely understand how you feel.

You can Facetime or video call your family members or friends and talk to them, ask what they are doing in their quarantine. This is also the best time to chat with your old friend whom you haven’t spoken to in a long time since you never got the time.

14. Reorganize or redecorate your room.


From your bedroom to your living room, you have countless areas to give it a makeover.

You can rearrange the furniture or get rid of unwanted stuff lying around and give it a complete fresh new look. You can also scroll through Pinterest and create DIY room decor for a different look. 

15. Learn new language/ instrument.


Well, you know you want to…now you have the time to do so because you are looking to be productive or pass this time.

There are many online classes or websites to learn new languages, there are also apps like Duolingo to help you learn a new language in a fun way. You can try learning an instrument which you brought and never got the chance to, well now you can.

These are a few things to do while at home that can make this quarantine period a little tolerable. Don’t get upset or frustrated, this social distancing and quarantine period is absolutely essential for the virus to slow down. Just remember this is just temporary and we are in this together. We should support this and do our part by being indoors and staying safe and hygienic.
