Summer can be a difficult time for your skin, especially with the unbearable heat and humidity. It is definitely getting hotter day by day here in India, bringing a lot of skincare issues. The sun and heat in the summers cause oily skin, clogs the pores, and cause pimples and breakouts.
It is important to take care of your skin and maintain a proper summer skincare routine to protect it from the weather. So, today I will share with you on how summer affects your skin and also share some summer skincare tips and home remedies on how to achieve a radiant glowing skin this summer.
Summer Skincare Tips & Home Remedies:
How Summer Affects the Skin?
The warmer weather and humidity in the summer increase in the surroundings due to which your skin’s sebaceous glands start producing excess sebum i.e natural oil of the skin. This oil which is secreted stays on the skin’s surface making you feel sticky, greasy, and also cause clogged pores. The heat in summers also causes more pores to open up which can get clogged with dirt, oil, or bacteria causing more acne, blemishes, and pimples on the skin.
Your skin gets tanned in the summers which are not completely a bad thing but too much sun exposure can also lead to premature aging of the skin. Skin exposed to the harmful UV rays increases the production of melanin which results in darker skin, but excess exposure can also increase the risk of aging and cancer. Hence, it is important to take care of your skin and follow a suitable summer skincare routine.
Summer Skincare Tips:
1. Consider Changing up your Face Wash
Cleansing your face and washing your face regularly is the most basic and necessary skin care routine step you should swear by. Your skin tends to get more oily in the summers especially if you are oily skin type. You might want to consider changing up your face wash accordingly which will help in getting rid of the dirt and oil.
If you have oily skin, it is recommended to use a face wash or cleanser containing salicylic acid for summers as you are more prone to acne. For those with dry skin, consider going for a non-foaming cleanser. Washing your face twice to thrice daily must be included in your summer skincare routine to feel refreshed and keep your skin clean.
2. Keep Yourself Hydrated
Hydration is very important that your body and skin require in the summers. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, this is very important to keep your skin hydrated and flush out the toxins from the body.
You can also splash your face with water frequently or spray your face with a hydrating facial mist to refresh your skin at frequent intervals. You can also pamper your skin with a hydrating face or sheet mask at nights while you sleep to get some extra hydration.
3. Exfoliate Your Skin
Exfoliating your skin is important to achieve healthy, bright, and smooth skin. Exfoliating helps in getting rid of the dead skin cells. The dead skin cells, dirt, and debris prevent the skin from breathing. Be sure to be gentle while exfoliating your skin as excess exfoliating may cause the skin to get bruised and also get rashes. You should exfoliate the skin gently or use a mild exfoliator which is gentle on the skin.
Use a face scrub at least twice a week to get rid of the excess dirt and oil from the skin. Also, remember to exfoliate your body once a while and not just the face.
4. Do Not Forget Sunscreen
Sunscreen is very important for the skin not only in summers but all throughout the year. Sunscreen is something you must not forget or ignore just because it feels sticky or greasy on the skin, we all hate that but it is very important for your skin.
Sunscreen is important as it protects the skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun which can permanently damage your skin causing sunburn, signs of aging, or even skin cancer.
